Your data stays yours.
Last updated: 4 July 2026
OPTIC is designed to keep your information on your device. This policy explains, in plain English, what OPTIC accesses, why, and where it goes. The short version: there are no accounts and no server, and your workout data stays with you.
No accounts, no server
OPTIC has no user accounts and no backend server. Your workouts, notes, and stats are stored locally on your device and in Apple Health. We don’t collect, receive, or hold a copy of any of it.
Apple Health (HealthKit)
With your permission, OPTIC reads and writes workouts, heart rate, and body weight through Apple Health. This data is used only to power your training features and is never used for advertising. You can review or revoke these permissions at any time in the Health app.
Camera
The camera is used only for on-device AR form tracking and for scanning QR plan codes. Video is processed live on your device and is never recorded, stored, or transmitted.
Location
Location is used only during GPS cardio workouts, to map your route. Your route is stored on-device alongside the workout and is not sent anywhere.
Motion & Apple Watch sensors
Motion data and Apple Watch sensors are used to count your reps and measure range of motion. This processing happens on-device only.
On-device AI
Post-workout coaching tips are generated entirely on-device using Apple Foundation Models (For non Apple Intelligence then backup coaching tips are used). No workout data leaves your device to produce them.
No third-party tracking
OPTIC contains no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. Where OPTIC offers music, the links simply open Spotify or Apple Music. Your listening there is governed by those apps’ own privacy policies.
Children’s privacy
OPTIC is a general-audience fitness app and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
OPTIC is actively developed, and this policy describes the app as it works today. As we add new features such as optional accounts and social features planned for the future; how OPTIC handles data may change, and this policy will be updated to reflect it before any such feature collects new information. When we make a change we’ll revise the “Last updated” date above, and because OPTIC currently has no server, changes take effect through an app update. We’d encourage you to check back here from time to time.
